About Help By Phone, Ltd.
________________
Founded in 1968 by the late Lois A. Jones, the Help By Phone Ltd 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization has been a vital resource for the Prince George's County community for decades. Lois started the organization with a simple yet powerful vision: to provide urgent, short-term assistance without the usual red tape. Over the years, we've remained true to that mission, offering help with essential needs like staple food and clothing, especially warm coats for school-aged children. We also operate Safe Haven, a temporary winter shelter for up to 15 homeless men.
Lois A. Jones served as our founder and executive director, building the organization with support from like-minded individuals and churches who still regularly donate to our cause. Today, Pamella Miller leads our team as the current executive director, continuing the important work that Lois began.
We are deeply concerned to share that our main grant source from FEMA/EFSP is no longer available due to recent federal administrative funding cuts. This grant was critical to funding our food program, and without it, we face a significant challenge in meeting the needs of our community.
This is why we need your help more than ever. To keep our doors open and continue providing these vital services, we are urgently seeking financial assistance. Your generous donations or volunteer time can make all the difference. With your support, we can ensure that Help By Phone, Ltd. remains a lifeline for those who need it most.

We believe that there are valuable resources available to help all of us in need, and we work together individually and through partnerships to ensure that urgent needs are met.
Our Mission
Help by Phone, Ltd. seeks to regularly provide urgent assistance through a dedicated hotline for those in need in Prince George's County, Md.

Our vision is to be a reliable and consistent source of support for our community, striving to combat hunger and promote better health. We plan to do this by providing food sourced from both wholesale suppliers and non-perishable donations.
Looking ahead, we aim to reintroduce our transportation services, which we have provided in the past. We also seek to expand our essential services by connecting clients with other valuable community resources and offering a compassionate listening ear to all who need it.
