Help By Phone Ltd, a 501(3) organization founded in 1968 in Prince George’s County, Maryland, is the brainchild of Lois A. Jones. Back then and up till now in 2022, she realized that people need short term emergency help for staple food, clothing, prescription for some medicine, clothing, especially warm coats for school-aged children, and short-term winter shelter for up to 15 homeless men. In short, urgent help without a lot of red tape.

Lois A. Jones is the Executive Director of the organization and oversees and operates the Help By Phone (HBP) program. She enlists support from other like-minded individuals and churches who are willing to donate funds on a regular basis to this organization. She maintains regular contact with Individuals and churches.

The main grant source is FEMA/EFSP which funds food, but not administrative expenses. The organization conforms to grant reporting requirements including client statistics: numbers of meals and clients, and proof that the grant money was spent on food in the grant time-frame.

The organization would be grateful for funds donated, and/or volunteer time to help the organization.

Our Mission
Help by Phone, Ltd. seeks to regularly provide immediate assistance through a dedicated hotline for those in need in Prince George's County, Md.
We provide help to those with urgent need through a combination of compassion and social support.
Our Vision and Commitment
We envision regularly providing emergent help to eligible residents of Prince George's County.

We desire to consistently be a source to stave off hunger and poor health by providing food from wholesale food sources and from non-perishable donations, offering transportation services to/from doctor's appointments, assisting with prescription medication costs, connecting clients with needed health and human service resources, and providing a listening ear.
